King Tut Exhibit at the California Science Center

Me, Myself, and I

Hello all! I am the Mad Archaeologist, and I am a 30-ish, christian, female archaeologist (duh), amateur historian, and amateur genealogist. If you have any questions about my profession, please don’t hesitate to ask! But let me clear up the three questions that I get asked the most:

1) “Oh! Like Indiana Jones?!”
I just say yes. 😉

2) “So, dinosaurs and stuff?”
Nope. That’s paleontology.

3) “Oh, so you’re like Bones from the TV Show?”
Nuh-uh. That’s forensic anthropology. (And I don’t watch the show either).

I have been obsessed with history and archaeology ever since I was a little girl, and grew up to be what I’ve been wanting to be since I was 5 years old. I began telling people at 3 years old that I wanted to be a paleontologist, and I would sit on the floor of my moms bedroom and look at the pictures of a King Tut catalogue from the 1970s exhibition that she had. As I grew older I fully realized my love of history and wanted nothing more than to dig up the past. (Of course this is after taking a 6 year detour studying vocal performance in Opera, but hey! I got there!)

And yes, I love Indiana Jones. In fact I was becoming Indiana Jones before I even saw the movies. I remember being really young, and my dad telling me that I should look for the treasure of the Biblical King Solomon, so we could keep it and be rich (he was joking of course). My response? “No, Daddy! It belongs in a museum!” Those exact words. (If you don’t know the reference watch Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade).

And before ya’ll come at me telling me that Archaeology isn’t like Indiana Jones…I KNOW. Trust me I’ve done enough reading and paperwork and foot survey to know that its not. Just let me have fun, m’kay?

A little more about me personally, I am married to my husband of 3 & 1/2 years. I love coffee, and yes I know how basic that sounds. I am a mildly ~*~chaotic~*~ person in pretty much every area of my life, but hey, that’s what makes us human right? I love going Antique-ing with my parents. (If you are unfamiliar with this, this is where you go to antique stores and swap meets and buy cool old things. It’s very fun. You should try it).

Anyways, thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope you enjoy my blog!

Me and the hubster in Halloween of 2020. I know he’s hot right? 😍
